I’m a (working) marketing student at Thomas More Mechelen. For English classes our assignment is to write this blog. During the marketing studies I did not find any subject in which I prefer to specialise on, except for the Big Data Marketing concept. I find it a very interesting subject, that will expand in the years to come.
I have analytical skills, founded at my previous job as purchaser: Seasonal influences, stock gaps, price evolutions, money fluctuations, supplier screening, etc.
One thing missing is managing computer data systems. To be able to look for data analytic marketer jobs I need to upgrade my computer skills.
I have been studying marketing for about 4 years now. I like to improve my skills and knowledge, and I feel stronger after every course. It has become a demanding hobby, for which many other time pass time had to be put aside.
I see myself keeping on studying in the years to come. In these modern times we do not stay at one employer and do not prefer to do one type of job until retiring. I feel that constant training for better skills, or even to be able to transform to other businesses, will be the new hype among young workers.
I never was a good student in high school, and further tries at college all failed. I decided to start working and since then I have started to grow ideas on how to arrange my coming work life. After 10 years of a purchasing (procurement) career I started at school again. I have never been as motivated as now, just by being able to know the direction for my studies, and for sure by being able to link the given classes with my professional experience.
I really liked the post. I do agree that we as young workers have to be flexible and never stop learning. Every day is a new day and has a new opportunity!
